DVC Moonlight Magic Events have returned to Disney Parks! Here is everything you need to know to register for Moonlight Magic and the dates for 2023.
Since becoming Disney Vacation Club Members, one of our favorite member benefits is the opportunity to attend Moonlight Magic events.
I love walking around Disney Parks on a regular park day but meandering with lower crowds with some of Disney’s biggest fans is an awesome experience!
Over the years we’ve attended Moonlight Magic Events at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Typhoon Lagoon. I’m excited to see what they look like at Animal Kingdom in August! Fingers crossed for another trip to Typhoon Lagoon and Hollywood Studios.
What Are DVC Moonlight Magic Events?
Moonlight Magic Events are a special benefit for Disney Vacation Club Members.
During Moonlight Magic events, Disney Vacation Club Members visit a select theme park for a special celebration after the park has closed to the public! Members then enjoy an evening of shorter than usual wait times, rare Character experiences, complimentary treats, and great entertainment.

How Do I Register For DVC Moonlight Magic Events?
While registering for Moonlight Magic events is easily done online, it will take patience and possibly multiple devices. May the odds be ever in your favor.
Registration for each Moonlight Magic event will open early for eligible members with existing Resort reservations at a Disney-owned-and-operated hotel at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida or at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort.
For eligible DVC members without existing Resort reservations, registration will open at a later date and will be subject to availability. Make sure to check the 2023 Moonlight Magic page for exact registration dates.
DVC Moonlight Magic Registration
Make sure you set an alarm, let everyone in your house know what you are doing so they can help or at least leave you alone while you try to register, have your phone, computer, or tablet charged and ready, make sure you have your DVC Member Number, and don’t forget to breathe!
On the day your registration date opens, visit the Disney Vacation Club page and click the RSVP Online button BEFORE 11 am est.
If you get there too early, the RSVP online button won’t be there. That doesn’t mean there is a glitch. It just means to try back a little later but definitely before 11 am.
BEFORE 11 am, when you click the “RSVP online” button, you will be magically transported to a virtual waiting room.
DO NOT REFRESH your screen. You are not trying to get into the virtual queue for TRON or Cosmic Rewind. You are already in the virtual waiting room and will automatically be shuffled into the queue for Moonlight Magic.
At 11 am, you will be assigned a number in the waiting room.
Please note that this is not a first come, first served situation. This is why many members use multiple devices. For example, I clicked the button around 9:30 am for a place in the waiting room but my daughter clicked the button closer to 11 am. Her device was given a number in the 1200s while mine was 2400-something. The early bird definitely does not get the worm. I would say 15-20 minutes before 11:00 would be a good time.
As you move forward in the virtual line, your number will decrease. There will be pauses in the queue. DO NOT LEAVE OR REFRESH. There will also be hiccups. Try to breathe through them.
When it is your turn, have your Disney Vacation Club Member Number at the ready. You will need to enter it twice in order to proceed. You have about 5 minutes per page from this point on.
Make sure to read ALL the information to verify everything is correct but also do not dawdle or you will run out of time.
Once you are successfully registered, you will receive a confirmation email.
What Time Does Registration For Moonlight Magic Open?
While I mentioned this before, this is important information to remember!
Registration for Moonlight Magic opens at 11 am est.
I would login and click the RSVP Online button at least 15-20 minutes before registration opens.
Is There A Limit To How Many Times You Can Attend Moonlight Magic Events?
To help celebrate with as many Disney Vacation Club Members as possible, only one event date for each participating park will be available per Membership.
So if you’ve already attended a Moonlight Magic Event at Hollywood Studios, you won’t be able to register for the second Moonlight Magic Event happening the next month.
Are There Party Size Limits For Moonlight Magic?
A DVC Member can register up to 4 additional Guests per Membership plus themselves (for a total of 5)—or up to the number of Guests on their Resort reservation, provided it was finalized prior to April 23, 2023.
Modifications to your Resort reservation party size after April 23, 2023, will not change your party size for the event.
Children younger than 3 years of age do not need to be registered for this event.
Moonlight Magic Eligibility
How do I know if I’m eligible to register for a DVC Moonlight Magic Event?
Easy! You must be a “blue card” Disney Vacation Club member.
That means that you must have purchased your Disney Vacation Club contract directly from Disney or bought before the resale restrictions were implemented in April 2016.
If you have a Disney Vacation Club Member Card, you are eligible!
If I’m Renting DVC Points From A Friend, Am I Eligible To Attend Moonlight Magic?
Anyone renting Disney Vacation Club points is not eligible for Moonlight Magic. Unlike other on-site perks, Moonlight Magic eligibility is based on the membership and not the stay.
Is Moonlight Magic Free For DVC Members?
Yes! DVC Moonlight Magic nights are free for Disney Vacation Club members and their guests to attend. Park reservations are not needed for that day since the events happen after the parks close.
What Are The DVC Moonlight Magic Hours?
Moonlight Magic Hours start after the host Disney Park closes.
Officially, Moonlight Magic hours are from 10 pm – 1 am, but you can enter the park starting at 7 pm!
You will not need a Theme Park Reservation to go in at 7 but if you want to go in early for dinner then you will need a Park Reservation.
I suggest you come as early as you can. There won’t be enough time to see all the Characters, eat all the snacks, and ride your favorite attractions. Beforehand, make sure you know the one thing that everyone in your group would like to do that night so you can try and make that happen.
Also note that they will cut off lines for snacks earlier than the 1 am that is stated. We tried to get in line at 12:45, after walking quickly through a rainstorm to get to the only snack kiosk left open, and were told we were too late.
I hope this article has helped answer any DVC Moonlight Magic questions you may have! If there is something I didn’t cover, let me know in the comments and I’ll answer them!
