Click to Share!

Using essentials in your home is a great way to minimize harmful toxins while effectively cleaning your home. Here are 5 cleaners you can make today using essential oils.

There are several essential oils that are great for cleaning. The most popular essential oils are lavender essential oil, lemon essential oil, pine essential oil, cinnamon essential oil, Thieves essential oil blend, and Purification essential oil blend.

To freshen the air in your home naturally and without the use of chemical-laden aerosol sprays, simply diffuse Thieves essential oil blend, or Purification essential oil blend. Fill your diffuser with distilled water and add 10-20 drops of the oil of your choice.

You can also use essential oils to make lotions, lip balms, body scrubs.

Cleaning with Essential Oils

1. Household Cleaner

Fill a glass spray bottle with distilled water and a Tablespoon of Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap. Add 3–5 drops each of lavender, lemon, and pine essential oils. Shake well.

2. Kitchen and Bathroom Cleaner

Put water into a spray bottle, add the essential oils. Always shake before using, as the essential oils will float to the top. This spray can be used to clean all surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom, which means fewer bottles!

3. All Natural Window cleaner

Add vinegar to the spray bottle, water, and essential oil. Shake well before each use.

4. Permanent Marker Removal

  • lemon essential oil
  • damp sponge

My son drew his Daddy a beautiful picture on his desk with 3 permanent markers. I tried a Magic Eraser, soap, and water with some elbow grease, and nothing worked. As my last resort, I remembered getting permanent marker off my daughter’s face once with lemon essential oil, so I figured it was worth a shot. Ta-da! It worked!! Not even the faintest mark was left. It was amazing!

5. Bathroom Air Freshener

Keep this bottle in the bathroom for a quick air freshener.

I make my own toilet cleaner with baking soda, citric acid, and various essential oils. It's simple and good for the environment. The cleaner you buy at the store is extremely dangerous and you always have to worry about getting it on your skin.

That's a great idea! I've used vinegar and baking soda, but not added anything else. Thanks for that!

I have and didn't have issues, but if you are concerned, you could try it on a spot that isn't really noticeable.

I am definitely going to try a couple of these once I run out of the cleaners I currently have. I buy the all-natural stuff, but this is even better, and probably cheaper (and more fun!). :)

So coincidental. When I visited my son in Florida for 6 weeks he got talking about essential oils and how it pays to buy high quality essential oil -- you get what you pay for!!!!
