5 ways to Refuel on the Crazy days

It will be okay.

Let’s brainstorm some ways to refuel on those crazy days that we all have.

5 Ways to Refuel

1. Do something for you.

What do you love to do? Many times as moms we do everything we can for our families but forget to take care of ourselves too. Make a list of things that you used to enjoy doing. Make a list of things you want to learn how to do.

Go through the lists and choose the twelve things you want to focus on each month. Maybe you can do more than one. Maybe you choose to focus on one thing for several months. The point is to do something for you. Maybe it’s running, reading a book, learning how to knit, quilting. There are so many possibilities. Choose something that you enjoy and do it.

2. Hydrate. So often this gets overlooked. We either don’t drink enough or drink too much of the wrong things. The goal is to drink eight 8oz glasses of water each day. If plain water is boring, you can infuse it with fruits, some vegetables, and even herbs. Coconut water is also a great way to hydrate and refuel your body. I like to mix a little pineapple in my coconut water. It’s delicious.

3. Brain Dump.

Before bed or when you wake up, write down everything you are thinking about. All of your to-dos, lists, activities for the week ahead, meal plan, and EVERYTHING you are thinking about needs to be written down on paper. You won’t have to worry about forgetting something because you wrote it down which means everything can easily be transferred to your calendar or weekly to-do list.

4. Pack snacks.

When we’re on the go, eating is not always our first priority. We just want to finish our to-do list. Then maybe we’ll grab a drive-thru something on the way to pick up the kids. Instead, pack snacks in your bag. It could be something as simple as a handful of almonds.

Fiber One has a new Cheesecake Bar which is delicious. It’s sweet and filling. With a graham cracker crust, rich and creamy cheesecake, and the sweet taste of strawberry, it’s a treat you don’t want to miss. It was a great snack to help me carb up before my first half marathon.

5. Stay organized.

The brain dump will help in this area. You also need a calendar with space to write out your daily tasks, a meal plan, with a month at a glance, and paper to write notes in. I keep a paper calendar and set reminders on my phone about meetings and deadlines. It can get crazy, but staying organized helps give me the space to breathe.
