10 Budget-Friendly Valentine’s Day Date Ideas That Are Fun
Build memories with your sweetheart, but don't break the bank! Here are ten budget-friendly Valentine's Day Date Ideas to spruce up your Valentine's.
Valentine's Day is around the corner. Crazy, right? Or am I the only one who feels like Christmas was just yesterday?
Do you have anything planned yet? If not, don't worry, because today I'll be sharing ten affordable Valentine's Day Date ideas with you which could help spruce up your Valentine's.
10 Budget-Friendly Valentine's Day Date Ideas
1. DO DINNER AND A MOVIE AT HOME
This is the classic line-up for a low-key date night. Skip the crowds and make a delicious dinner at home, then get comfy on the couch with the movie of your choice.
Either pick a favorite movie you could never get enough of (for me, this would be The Sound of Music), or rent a new movie you haven't seen yet.
2. GO ON A NATURE-FILLED HIKE
My husband loves exploring nature, so every once in a while (against my indoorsy tendencies), I'll go on a hike with him!
This has always been an affordable outing for us because most public parks are free to enter. All we have to pay for are snacks for the trail and gas to get us there!
3. SEE A MOVIE AT THE DRIVE-IN THEATER
Yes, a few of these do still exist, even here in Los Angeles! Step back in time to the drive-in movie era and catch a classic flick or even a new release. Pack your car full of cozy blankets and snacks, and enjoy!
Try to buy your tickets ahead of time, if possible, to ensure you'll get a spot.
4. DO A CARD STORE & DESSERT DATE
Let's be honest, store-bought cards can be pricey and/or impersonal. So, instead of exchanging that $6 greeting card, go on a card store date that consists of browsing cards you would have given each other, but didn't, and then finish off the night by sharing your favorite dessert with each other.
Take a picture to commemorate your evening, and let that serve as your keepsake.
5. PARTICIPATE IN A SPECIALIZED CLASS

Does a one-night cooking class sound interesting to you? What about private ballroom dance lessons, or a beginner's level art class?
Is there something else you've always wanted to try that's been on the back burner for too long? Make it happen this Valentine's Day by keeping an eye out for local deals which you and your significant other can take advantage of.
6. TOUR A MUSEUM OR HISTORICAL SITE
This is by far my favorite thing to do for any type of special occasion because my husband and I are both history lovers. I'd take a museum visit over a fancy dinner any day!
And because we have so many places we still want to see, Valentine's Day is always a great reason for us to get out there and cross something else off the bucket list.
7. CREATE A COUPON BOOK
A sweet and affordable Valentine's Day date alternative is to sit down over a simple dinner and give your significant other a coupon book of experiences and dates to be redeemed at any future point in time.
This is perfect for anyone on a tight budget, as it still conveys a lot of thought, but doesn't require a lot of cost up front. I've done this before and had so much fun putting one together!
8. MAKE A PERSONALIZED SCAVENGER HUNT
A scavenger hunt can be as simple as hiding a few meaningful gifts hidden throughout your home, driving to your favorite coffee shop, or even going on a short drive outside of the city to do some star-gazing.
Husbands, if your wife needs a break from the kiddos, you could also let the last note say that she can have some “me” time reading a book in bed with a cup of cocoa for the rest of the evening.
Whatever it is, make it something your partner would appreciate and cherish.
9. HAVE A POPCORN AND PUZZLE NIGHT

Another affordable date option is to make a batch of homemade popcorn, and then spend the evening playing a few games or doing a puzzle.
Here's a list of 20 games that only require a minimum of two players, just in case you need some help coming up with ideas!
10. REVISIT OLD DATING HAUNTS
Are there any places you and your spouse used to frequent when you first started dating? Try revisiting them! Grab a cup of your favorite beverage and start reminiscing.
Think about how much you've grown together since then, and share what you're thankful for when it comes to your relationship. You may be surprised to see what memories pop up!
