MK Glam: Hello, Gorgeous!

Hello Gorgeous

I love staying home with my children. Love it. I really do. But some things have been left by the wayside while I’ve been on this journey of motherhood. Mainly, fashion and beauty products. Every morning I have a to-do list that is a mile long. I have to number those things in the order of importance. Fashion and beauty just aren’t in the top 20. A shower? Maybe. Wearing clothing (affiliate link)? Um, yes. But actually matching and wearing make-up? Isn’t that saved for date nights and girls night out?

I am trying to get better at taking a little time out for myself. Even if it’s just a shower and putting on make-up as if I was going out on the town with a group of friends. Less frumpy, more frilly {or at least just more showers}.

I honestly have no idea how long you are supposed to keep make-up. Probably not as long as I have. I recently decluttered my make-up bag and found eye shadow and lipstick that were over 10 years old. I still have the lipstick I wore on my wedding day, almost 13 years ago. It’s time for a make-up overhaul!

I was so super excited to get my very first VoxBox from Influenster. This mama was in desperate need of a new look. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I opened the box. I would have filmed myself going through the box, but it came on a no shower day. I won’t subject you to that!

Here it is in all it’s glory! Isn’t it amazing?!

Included in the box were:

  • Mary Kay® Bronzing Powder
  • Mary Kay® Translucent Loose Powder
  • Mary Kay® Mineral Cheek Color
  • Mary Kay® Cream Eye Color in Apricot Twist
  • Mary Kay® Cream Eye Color/Concealer Brush
  • Mary Kay® Lash Love® Mascara
  • Mary Kay® Gel Eyeliner with Expandable Brush Applicator in Jet Black
  • Mary Kay® NouriShine Plus® Lip Gloss in Mango Tango

I was a little concerned about the colors. While I am loving all the corals and oranges I’ve been seeing lately, I don’t wear them. I am a pink girl all day long. I just love pink. Mango Tango is not pink. Although I got color shock when I put it on for the first time, it really wasn’t that bad. Now I pretty much use it every day. Although I would still like a NouriShine Lip Gloss in a pink hue.

Do you see the translucent powder? It has this little piece that turns so when you travel the powder stays put in the jar. A great feature!!

I was a little scared of the black gel eye liner. But you know what? It’s one of my favorite things in the box. It only takes a little bit, and it was so easy to apply! I’m sure it would make a great smoky eye or something fancy. I think I’ll stick with just lining my upper eye lid first.

The bronzer gives that perfect sun-kissed look. I wasn’t sure about the Apricot Twist eye color, but I really like the cream. It’s so easy to put on. I really want to try some other colors in that one too. The Mineral Cheek Color lasts a long time.

Being a mom allows us to truly test a lot of products to see if they live up to the hype. These products from Mary Kay definitely do. Trying them made me step out of my comfort zone. Surprisingly enough I love the look of the colors together, and even on me.

Here’s to a new me {in the make-up department}.

What aspect of life has fallen on the wayside for you since becoming a mama? Please leave a note in the comments!

voxbox-blogimage-popup2I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
