For those who aren’t local to Florida, you may be just a tiny bit tired of winter weather. The snow, sleet, frozen winds and general gloom can be exhausting! Luckily, Epcot’s International Flower & Garden Festival will soon be arriving in Orlando. As you know, Epcot is one of our favorite Parks at Walt Disney World.

This isn’t just an ordinary, run of the mill flower display; the Flower & Garden Festival is an immersive experience for all five senses!

I’ve partnered with the travel experts at Get Away Today to help me share all the details of this fantastic festival.

Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival

Dates

Beginning March 6, 2019, the Flower & Garden Festival will run at Epcot until June 3, 2019.

Guests of all ages will be able to attend and enjoy this immersive sensory experience.

What to See

The Flower & Garden Festival offers guests the chance to marvel at attractions such as Disney themed topiaries, wildlife habitats and so much more. Stroll through intricately crafted garden spaces and let the sights announce Spring’s arrival!

Frozen fans will let go of all their troubles when they get to see Elsa and Anna represented in floral; book lovers are invited to be guests in the France pavilion to see Beauty and the Beast designed in botanicals, and you can race to the Test Track to catch a look at Lightning McQueen and his best friend Mater created out of clover.

There are dozens more Disney characters to see at the Flower & Garden Festival! Guided tours are also available at the Festival, so be sure to check Epcot’s website to see what additional costs apply.

What to Smell

Now, this is probably obvious, but guests’ noses are sure to be tickled by the wide array of florals at the Flower & Garden Festival.

In addition to flowers grown simply for their beauty, within the Festival there will be plants grown for use in cooking. The smells of spices like basil and leaves for tea will most likely get your mouth watering!

Cast members will be on hand at designated times to answer questions about the various gardens, and what the purposes of many of the plants are.

What to Hear

There will be many concerts during the Festival, with an extensive list of performers that can be found HERE. In addition to live music, other sounds can be found in the Purple Martin Garden.

Migratory birds from Brazil trekked over 3,000 miles to land at Epcot and raise their little babies! The sounds of birds throughout the festival will be just like music to guests’ ears. And if you listen very, very carefully, you might even catch the flutter of butterfly wings in areas with flowers grown to attract those delicate insects.

What to Taste

There will also be outdoor kitchens, offering tasty treats and drinks thanks to the World Showcase at Epcot. Travel around the world with flavors from Germany, France and Florida itself.

Food and libations will range from vegetarian and gluten-free, to Italian pasta and Japanese frushi (delicious fruit sushi!). There will be a little something for everyone, with familiar family favorites and hopefully some brand new cuisine as well.

What to Touch

Amateur and experienced gardeners alike can participate in demonstrations and tours to aid in nurturing their own skills. Dive in and get your hands dirty, learning from the flower professionals at Epcot!

March 8 – 10, guests can participate in the hands-on activity of painting upcycled syrup receptacles to be used as rain barrels. Along the Imagination Walkway in Epcot, kids can interact with the playground and outdoor kitchens designed to spark their creativity.

There is also a Toy Story 4 themed playground near Test Track in the Family Play Zone.

There will be lots of opportunities for kids and grown-ups alike to delight their sense of touch at this Epcot festival in the Spring… just be sure you resist the urge to pick any of the flowers!
