I love fall.
Pumpkin patches. Falling leaves. Pumpkin spice lattes. Gluten free Pumpkin Bread. Cool weather. Layers. I love it all.
I love seeing pumpkins everywhere. Last year we were completely last minute with fall decor and bought faux pumpkins instead of real. They looked real enough for the kids. But when I brought them out of the garage for this year, I realized that the orange paint had started chipping off.
I was sad.
That was until I remember I had a bottle of black chalkboard paint!!
Woot!
Craft time {which hardly ever happens these days}.
I went in search of my craft supplies.
Easy Peasy and SO cute!
I love how the orange pops in the Fall.
Paint the first coat and let dry completely (I know this step is always SO hard!!).
Paint a second coat and possibly a third if you feel that the pumpkin needs it. {this was after one coat}
I love that I can write anything on it.
It’s perfect for:
- Monograms
- Scripture verses
- Phrases
- Your word for the year/month
- Art project with your kids
Much to my dismay, one morning I went downstairs with the baby after my husband had already taken the older kids downstairs for breakfast, and I found my chalkboard pumpkin on the floor in the hallway. Someone had taken it upon themselves to add their own artistic style to my pumpkin.
After taking a few deep breaths and partaking in my morning coffee, I saw the beauty in the mess. They wanted to decorate the pumpkin like Mommy. They did use chalk, so they probably thought they were helping. Ha!
Something else you can do with Pumpkins in the Fall is to plant mums inside them.
Mum Planters
What you need:
- pumpkins
- mums
- potting soil
- shovel
Take out all the insides. Add the potting soil. Plant the mums. Add more potting soil, and you’re done!
Easy and beautiful. Simple decorating with pumpkins.
What are some ways you decorate with pumpkins in the Fall?

Such a good idea to use chalkboard paint on anything else but a flat surface. I'm going to try this.
