While growing up, homes with fireplaces and chimney’s were a staple. Outside of each house was a wood pile, curing for the winter ahead. It wasn’t until I got married and we started making our own traditions in our tiny apartment that it occured to me that I had no place to hang our stockings. We had no mantel or fireplace!
When we moved to Charlotte, I was amazed at how many of the new homes we looked at didn’t have fireplaces. Now winter isn’t typically as brutal in North Carolina as it is in New England, but it’s still nice to warm up by a roaring fire on cold winter nights.
One of the best resources we found when looking for homes in the area was Trulia. Trulia’s website and mobile apps are a wealth of information with a wide range of topics including financing, finding an agent, local market trends, selling, buying and renting to give consumers the confidence they need to make life changing decisions.
To celebrate the season, they scoured listings to for mentions of fireplaces and chimneys to see just how many Santa-friendly homes there are across the country. What they found was astounding. Most of the new homes lacked chimneys for Santa to climb down!!

No chimney ...no problem is right. CHildren want to belive in Santa so bad around the holidays because it's so magical. They will beleive that he comes in the back door with his own special key!! Christmas is such a wonderful time of year, memories that are so special!!
