Hard Days

I don’t have any profound thoughts for you guys today. Sorry. My house is a mess, and I really need to go through all of this stuff surrounding me and declutter. We are having a yard sale soon and this stuff has to go.

I can’t think straight when I’m surrounded by stuff. But maybe that’s just me.

The laundry is FINALLY put away. Yea!!

My husband made dinner. I’m thankful he was home today. Even if it was because he didn’t feel the best in the world.

Today I’ve just felt “off”. I was able to take a much needed nap, but it was interrupted my a screaming baby who woke up to find himself alone. The sobbing indicated that he thought we had left him for good and no one was going to ever get him out of the crib. Ever.

We were just in the other room.

Of course we would never leave him alone all by himself. That was just his perception.

But don’t we do the same thing sometimes?

Our perception isn’t always reality.

Being a Mommy can feel lonely.

It’s hard.

Somedays I long for adult interaction.

That can’t always be face to face, so I hop on Facebook and get lost in the status updates, giveaways to enter, and articles posted. I click “like” and occasionally make some comments.

A quick text in lieu of a phone call.

A playdate planned but falls through.

The endless “to-do” list is overwhelming at times.

At the end of some days if we are all alive, I count it a success.

Life is messy and hard.

But we get through it.

By God’s grace, we get through it.

Although I may feel alone, I’m not really. I have friends that I can call on the phone or text. My husband will come home from work. My precious children are such a blessing and reminder of God’s love for me. They are so quick to forgive, full of joy, and just want to love people. God placed us here in this time, in these social circles for a reason. I would bet if I asked most of the people who I perceive to have no worries in life, friends out the wazoo, and a full social calendar, they are lonely too. Maybe not, but perhaps.

The enemy wants us to think we are alone in life. He wants us to feel isolated from the Body of Christ.

Here are some Scriptures that I cling to:

Ecclesiastes 3:11-13 “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s gift to man.”

Lamentations 3:22-23 “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 {my favorite} “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

What verses do you cling to on the hard days?

I know how you feel sometimes. I don't have a lot of friends where wee live so it's hard when the extent of my social interaction is Facebook. I usually cling to a song when I'm feeling tired or lonely. It simply repeats, "the joy of the Lord is my strength." It's a singsong happy tune that usually gets me to smile. I also put on our slug bug CD and watch my son dance around like a silly person. Lol

We all have off days. And I don’t like to be surrounded by clutter either. Major clean out needs to be done here, too!
