Five Minute Friday: Encouragement

Click to Share!

Welcome to my little corner of 5 minute Friday. It’s a place where people from all over the world write for 5 minutes without looking back. We pour out our hearts, about our journeys. It’s not always pretty. Life is messy. But there’s beauty in the mess. God is writing our stories for His glory, so we write and link up to our Five Minute Friday community on Lisa-Jo Baker’s blog.

Encouragement

This Mom-thing is hard.

I don’t remember anyone telling me, I mean really telling me, about the sleepless nights. The heartbreaking moments when your child experiences a cruel world for the first time {or 10th. That doesn’t get easier}. The loss of time for investing in friendships. No time for doing the things I used to love to do. Just the loneliness that comes from doing the same things day in and day out without adult conversation.

While I love being a Mommy, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world, it’s hard.

And we’re not alone. During those 2 am feedings, while everyone else in your house is asleep, there are other Mommy’s out there doing the same thing you are. Having a H-A-R-D day? Someone else is too. We aren’t alone in this. Not only do we have a Father who will never leave us or forsake us, we also have a community of other Moms who have been there and done that, or doing that. We just have to find them.

It is a lie from Satan that we are alone. Because we aren’t. But sometimes it takes courage on our part to step out of our comfort zones to find those other Moms. They are out there.

Visiting from FMF over at Lisa Jo's... so much truth here! Finding other Mom's - whether at church, in a MOPS group, a playground/park/facility for littles, or school events... that's not the hard part. The hard part is - as you said - stepping out of our comfort zones and reaching out. But oh how we are all longing for community and encouragement! Great reminder to be brave!

Amen! Thanks for this true reminder. I remember asking my mom "why didn't you tell me it would be this hard?" Especially in the age of social media, it can be easy to believe everyone else is happy and their lives are perfect. But it is a lie! The word says in this life you will have trouble. But the good news is - Jesus has overcome the world!

The first three months with my son were some of the best - but also the darkest - of my life. I don't think anyone really understands how isolating a newborn can be until they experience it.

But no, we're definitely not alone. And eventually those sleepless nights at 2 am will pass. :)

Here via 5MF. Have a lovely weekend!
