My absolute favorite time of year to take family pictures is in the Spring. My second favorite is Fall with changing colors of the leaves. But Spring. The fresh newness of life all around us. Green leaves and brightly colored flowers everywhere. There really isn’t a better canvas for capturing this season of life with your family.
We aim for family pictures at least once each year. While it’s easy to get sidetracked and busy. I may this a priority. My children are only little once. Each year our family changes. It’s fun to go back and look at how much our little family has changed over the years.
One of the hardest parts about family pictures is figuring out clothing (affiliate link) ideas for family pictures in Spring. Especially making them look great without being matchy-matchy. Sure I could dress the boys in matching shirts and pants and the girls in matching dresses. That would be easy. But it wouldn’t capture their personalities, or who our family is in this stage.
Sometimes the clothing (affiliate link) choices can be overwhelming.
Most of the time, my go to source for children’s clothing (affiliate link) is Gymboree. The collections are perfect for families who want to be color coordinated but don’t want to all wear the same thing.

The clothing coordinates well together, but we aren’t all wearing the same thing. The girl’s dresses all came from Gymboree, as well as the khaki pants my oldest son is wearing. The rest of the clothing came from Crazy 8. Don’t forget to shop Spring Sales, and check out magazines for coupons. Every little bit helps.
As for this year, I thought I had our outfits planned out. I liked some of the outfits but didn’t love them. Then I saw the Tea and Cake Party Collection at Gymboree for girls and boys. My boys may or may not end up wearing the bow tie, but it is SO CUTE! My oldest daughter can not wait to wear her dress. Being comfortable is so important. If you and your children are not comfortable, it’s not going to end well. I do tend to like barefoot pictures, but that’s also what my kids prefer.
